Getting to Chamonix for UTMB week
Every year at the end of August, thousands of trail runners from all over the world gather in Chamonix for the UTMB Mont-Blanc week. Most of them fly into Geneva Airport, which is the closest international airport to the Mont Blanc valley. Public shuttles fill up quickly during race week and timetables rarely match late arrivals, so a private transfer is the simplest way to reach your accommodation with your bags, poles and race kit.
Your driver tracks your flight, waits for you in the arrivals hall with a name sign and takes you directly to your hotel, chalet or apartment in Chamonix, Les Houches, Argentière or Vallorcine. If your flight is late, the waiting time is adjusted at no extra cost.
Race starts in Italy and Switzerland
Several races of the week do not start in Chamonix. Some start in Courmayeur on the Italian side of Mont Blanc, others in Switzerland, such as Orsières. Official buses exist, but many runners prefer a private car so they can leave at the time that suits them, travel with their crew and avoid queues on race morning. We plan these early departures in advance and confirm the pickup time the day before.
Crews, families and finish-line returns
Support crews often follow the runner between aid stations around the Mont Blanc massif. We can arrange a driver for the day or for a set number of hours, so your crew can move between the French, Italian and Swiss sides without worrying about parking or driving after a sleepless night. After the finish, we drive runners and families back to their accommodation or straight to Geneva Airport, whatever the hour.
Book early for race week
Race week is the busiest week of the summer in Chamonix. We recommend booking your airport transfers as soon as your race entry is confirmed. Send us your flight details, the number of passengers and bags, and your accommodation address: we reply with a fixed price and a confirmation.
